Spending
Spending is coming
Where the money goes, line by line, from the city’s own ledger.
The city’s own record of what it spends and what it hands out, obtained by public records request and published whole rather than summarised. The purchasing-card ledger — the p-card, in the city’s own words — indexed by department, division, merchant, accounting code and month, so a line can be found from whichever end you start at. The grants the city gives out and the grants it receives. And the contracts and other spending records this project asks the city for, added as they arrive.
What you will be able to do
- Look up grants, their payouts, and more.
- Follow one department’s spending, or one merchant’s, across the whole p-card ledger.
- Open a single month and read every line in it.
- See which lines say what they bought, and which never say.
- Read the contracts and other spending records as this project obtains them from the city.
Going live soon — stay tuned.
